Office Policy for Personal Protective Equipment
Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) $5 Fee
Per mandate of the Governor of Virginia, our office was allowed to reopen on May 4, 2020, due to the COVID-19 crisis. This order may be extended or renewed as needed depending on the COVID-19 status.
For the safety of our staff and our patients, we are following the CDC and ADA’s recommendation for the use of additional personal protection equipment (PPE) and have new safety protocols in place. As you can imagine, the cost and availability of this equipment limits the number of patients that can be seen, and longer appointment times are needed for the extra protocols.
Additional recommended protocols to protect our patients, hygienists, assistants, and doctors includes but are not limited to the following:
- KN95 respirators or Level 3 Masks
- Isolation gowns
- Surgical caps
- Face shields
We are taking the CDC and ADA’s advice to help keep our office up and running with the safest of outcomes. The ADA has suggested offices charge a fee to help reduce the high cost of PPE equipment and has reached out to dental insurance companies asking them to cover this additional cost during the pandemic. To keep costs down for our patients as well, we’ll only be charging a PPE fee of $5 for each appointment. It can initially be billed to insurance to determine coverage and any balance due after insurance will be billed to the patient.
We appreciate your support and understanding and look forward to seeing you at your next appointment.
