Meet Shane Claiborne, DDS

Dr. Claiborne was born in Landstuhl, West Germany while his parents were stationed at Ramstein AFB. Dr. Claiborne graduated from Tabb High School in Yorktown, Virginia in 1993 and received his undergraduate degree from Salisbury State University in 1997.

After earning his dental degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 2003, Dr. Claiborne completed a two-year general practice residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. During this time, he received extensive training and supervision in all aspects of dental implant treatment.

Dr. Claiborne completed further dental implant training at the Misch International Implant Institute, the Midwest Implant Institute and many other educational organizations. In 2008, in recognition of his outstanding knowledge and skills, he was awarded the status of fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, one of the highest honors an implant dentist can receive.

Dr. Claiborne has performed over 1,000 dental implant procedures during his career. He uses the latest technology to get the best results possible for his patients.

Dr. Claiborne has consistently won an award from Our Health Magazine’s “Best Bedside Manner” awards since 2014. In 2019, he was awarded the top honor with a Gold Medal for “Best Bedside Manner.” Lynchburg Living also honored him in “The Best of Lynchburg” issue in 2020.

Dr. Claiborne's wife, Jennifer, is a practicing orthodontist in Lynchburg and they have a son, Connor, daughter, Julia, and two golden retrievers, Max and Suzy.

Meet Emma A. Schmidt, DMD

Dr. Emma A. Schmidt is originally from Pittsburgh, PA but has traveled through a few states on her journey here to Virginia. She completed her undergraduate degree at Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia followed by her dental degree at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Immediately after graduation, Dr. Schmidt pursued an optional 1-year General Practice Residency at the Ann Arbor veterans hospital where she learned to care for medically compromised patients in a dental setting. After completing her residency, she began her private practice career outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Since then, she has joined our team and enjoys being able to offer a well-rounded dental experience to our patients focusing on patient comfort. Trust between her and the patient is of utmost importance to provide the best care possible.

Dr. Schmidt is a member of the American Dental Association and the Virginia Dental Association.

In her spare time, Dr. Schmidt spends time with her husband, Dave and dog, Zoey, doing any activity that gets them outdoors.
